Book 19?!?!? Really?!?!? Whoever came up with this cliffhanger trend needs to go sit in a corner somewhere. Even when a book is steamy, having to wait to read the next installment takes the wind out of my sail. I just can't with this, book 19 - wow.

I think this was the shortest of all of the books in the series and for the price that they sell for I really feel as if I have been duped! Now I'm sure there will be another long waiting period for the next book... I truly do love this story and would like to continue reading it but come on I'm so disappointed...

The last time I purchased the "Merck Index", in addition to the one-year on-line access there was a computer disk included that permitted one also to print monographs from the computer. That was omitted in this edition.

First performed by students at Northwestern University, where playwright Zimmerman is a professor of performance studies (she is also Manilow Resident Director at the Goodman Theater in Chicago), this play opened at Broadway's Circle on the Square Theater in March 2002. Based on Ovid's transformation myths, the play subtly mixes the ancient stories of pathos and tragedy with contemporary language, humor, and thought, all enacted in and around a large pool of water in the center of the stage. The themes of love, the inevitability of change, and the human ability to adapt to change are timeless, as is amply demonstrated by the sometimes eerie closeness of a vignette to the original lines from Ovid, which still manage to resonate with modern viewers. The volume includes the script, a production history, and photographs from several productions. A valuable addition to either drama/ theater or mythology collections, this play by Zimmerman, who has also adapted and directed The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, The Odyssey, The Arabian Nights, and others, is highly recommended for public, academic, and high school libraries. Metamorphoses opened on Broadway on March 4th, 2002. It has already sold 1,000 copies (as of 03/13/02). Zimmerman is well known in the Chicagoland area, due to her close association with the Lookingglass Theatre and Northwestern University. The book will be sold throughout the country, following the movement of the production. Metamorphoses' literature-into-drama approach gives the book a dual role in the marketplace, both as literature and as a script for performance. This is the first version of the play to appear in printed form.

beauty in the best, most powerful sense

I ordered this title in advance of seeing a revival of the original Zimmerman-directed production at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.. Zimmerman is noted for the power of her theatrical environments, and so you'd think you'd *really* have to see it live to understand her pretty undeniable genius. But this script is beautifully done, and the balance between dialogue and stage directions conveys the affect and atmosphere of the live event in a way I wasn't expecting. I would feel very confident teaching this play without my students being able to see a full, live production. Zimmerman is as much a wordsmith as she is a brilliant director. Whether you love theatre, or whether you love Greek mythology, this is a beautiful, emotionally profound rendering of Ovid's stories that manages to find light and contemporary resonance at the same time. If you've never read or seen any of her works before, this is a great place to start. And although the text can't substitute for the live event, the reading experience is surprisingly satisfying. I'm an academic, so I'm supposed to assess value based on historical and conceptual significance as well as aesthetic success--but this is a play that moves me on a deep, human level. When you read or see Zimmerman's work, you think: *this* is what theatre can do. Read this play!

Fast delivery from seller, fantastic play

My college recently put this play on and I was moved to tears no less than 3 times. Reading the play is less moving, but I love to have Zimmerman's wonderful words and insights written down for easy reference. Some of my favorite scenes in this play involve Midas and his daughter, Cupid and Psyche, and Orpheus and Eurydice. And, of course, there is "Let me die at the moment my love dies." This lovely interpretation of some of the best of Greek mythology should be on everyone's bookshelf.

The Imaginarium of Mary Zimmerman

Did this play with my high school drama group. We couldn't have the pool it calls for, but it hardly mattered: the treatment of the myths is often light and charming, the dialogue plays well and there is a wealth of emotional seriousness underlying it all. Highly recommend to any drama group.

Franklin W. Dixon was the pseudonym devised by Edward Stratemeyer for the author of a series of mystery books he was developing which became the Hardy Boys series. The first book, The Tower Treasure, originally published in 1927, was ghostwritten by Leslie MacFarlane who went on to write 19 more, including #2 through #16. In all, there are 58 titles in the original Hardy Boys Mysteries series published between 1927 and 1979 written by 17 different men and women. Many of the books were later revised, adding another four Hardy Boys Mystery Stories to the total.

THE best Hardy Boys story

This concerns the original text edition of House On The Cliff. The revised edition is most familiar, but this one is richer in subplots and character development. This book was originally released back in the late 1920's, and is, arguably, the best Hardy Boys book in the entire series. Admittedly this is my personal opinion, but I have read each and every Hardy Boys title (both original and revised text)in the first 58. This story was revised during the first wave revisions of the Hardy Boys back in the late 1950s. If you've never read the original text version of this story, you're in for a treat.

We bought this book years ago at a Library sale and I now read it at least once every summer. It is an easy read with suprisingly wonderful character development and a great story line (Stevenson effortlessly weaves together mystery, romance, adventure, drama, and comedy). D. E. Stevenson's book The House on the Cliff is refreshing in its innocence, believability, and good Brittish sense. Anyone who loves all things Classic, Tweed, and English will love this book.

I read so many of these a few years back, and I am now stocking up my home library with these great imaginary scenes. My children are too young to read, but my nephew likes them just fine. Great for boys AND girls. Start kids off with some fun and clean reading, and they will love reading later on.

This was a great book for the history buff, but also was an enjoyable read in general too!

My daughter has loved the story of the Titanic since she was a little girl. I don't know what it is about the story that intrigues her but she is drawn to it, so when I received this, I knew she would devour the book and I was not mistaken. The nice things about this book is that it is relatable for the audience that it is written for. You really get to know some of the kids that were on the Titanic in a new and interesting way. The book is also written in a way to keep the reader on their toes as they try and see whether the kids will survive or not. This was a great book for the history buff, but also was an enjoyable read in general too!

You're better of just using that

This is a "getting started" guide, not a proper book thoroughly documenting a technology. And any time you need to go off the beaten path, this book leaves you high and dry. The chapter on testing contains instructions that can actually prevent your application from running correctly if your test configuration class is in a package with the same name as the application class - which, given typical conventions, is not unlikely.

The official reference documentation is much more thorough and instructive, not to mention free. You're better of just using that.

Great overall introduction to Spring Boot

A great overall introduction to Spring Boot. The first four chapters cover the basics for a standard Maven or Gradle setup, including externalizing properties. From there he covers Testing, working with the CLI and Groovy, and then working with Grails.The actuator and how to deploy apps are well covered too. Sample code is offered throughout. The appendices are extensive and useful, especially the one covering developer tools. I've seen Mr. Walls at NFJS conferences several times, and he is always good at boiling down complex subjects to their core principles. I recommend this book for anyone who works with Spring Boot.

Very weak in the amount of content you get for the dollar. I was pretty disappointed. The examples were pretty trite. The book consisted of one simple sample app. Lots of fluff to fill up pages and there weren't many.

I recently had the incredible fortune to be tutored by Celestia for two days at an event on a farm. We made several dishes from the cookbook including Poke Cakes and Collards. Even though I live in the South and I cook, her seasonings and methods were new to me and I am now a devout student! I recommend this book for anyone who would like to learn a bit more about Southern Cooking and maybe some new techniques.

Great Book!

This textbook worked very well for class. There were no pages missing and it helped me to a good grade. I recommend this textbook to anyone taking this course, or just looking to learn more.

Does the job

I purchased this as a required textbook for a Strategic Marketing course. In that regards it's perfect in that I have assigned readings from it, each week. It is not at all inspiring, dry in places, and some of the examples could be updated. For instance, their example regarding Apple is a great description of the company's brand associations and positioning of 10 years ago (the book still refers to them as Apple Computer) and makes no mention of any of the brand development that firm has undergone since. That said, it get's the concepts across, but I think if it hadn't been written a as a college textbook (in accocordance with a textbook publisher's business model) the information could have been transferred more effectively and inspiringly - in probably half to two thirds of the pages. I think the idea is if it weighs more, it must be worth more.

As I said, it does the job. The writing is easy to understand. I'm learning things from it. I will not be keeping it past the end of semester.

Through Amazon, I purchased it for half the price it was selling for at the University Co-op.

I recommend this book if you want to learn about branding. It is easy to read and uses great real world examples to explain more complex concepts.
