Outstanding arrangements!

I love this book because the songs sound a lot better than I expected. Most "easy arrangements" are simply tunes that have been stripped down to the bare essentials -- enough is there so that one can recognize the tune, but so "bare bones" that they sound like something a six-year-old would play.
But rather than just stripping a song down to its bare essentials, Mr Springer took the time and effort to include some very nice flourishes that -- while still easy -- definitely enhance the sound so it's something I wouldn't be embarrassed to play for friends. I'm particularly pleased with his arrangement of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" -- the last couple of bars were especially delightful.
Definitely looking for more arrangements by this man. THANK YOU, MIKE SPRINGER!

Nice song selection and very user friendly arrangements. I would consider myself an intermediate reader and I can read thru and sound pretty musical from the get go. (I also have the gershwin book of the same series and it is a bit more challenging to achieve the same results)

I really would have loved lead sheet style chords above the bars, but as it was not promised or advertised as such I will not deduct a star, however given the style they really should be there. I am writing handwriting them in, as I tend to play thru 1st time as written, 2nd time with improvised solo, 3rd time as written again. Just my $0.02. Perhaps the people who are coming to this from a 'sight reading/classical' background are not phased by this, I would expect anyone who has worked with a real book would want the chords there, so if you were wondering, they are not.

Also, FYI, there are doubles between this and other books in the series. Summertime is in the Gershwin book (the only other of the series I own), but as of right now I like this version a little better (might just be that the key of D min fits pretty nicely on the staff, but also the bass part has a nice groove to it)

Overall I am quite pleased with my purchase.

I'm doing my Certificate IV in Companion Animals with Delta and this book aligned with everything I am learning and was of terrific assistance. It was so helpful in my studies and such an easy to follow, 5 star read. Recommended to anyone about to endeavour dog ownership or already owning a dog. A must have :-). If only everybody who owned a dog, followed what this book has to offer. Magic.

About the Author
Andy Clayden is a landscape architect, garden designer, and a lecturer at the University of Sheffield, England.

Nigel Dunnett is a Reader in Urban Horticulture in the landscape department at the University of Sheffield, where he has developed innovative research programs on naturalistic and ecologically informed planting for gardens and public landscapes. He is director of The Green Roof Centre, Sheffield, and acts widely as a consultant on green roof design and planting, and sustainable garden and landscape design in general.

He writes regularly for landscape and garden publications, including Gardens Illustrated and The Garden. With Noël Kingsbury he wrote Planting Green Roofs and Living Walls; with Andy Clayden, Rain Gardens: Managing Water Sustainably in the Garden and Designed Landscape.

Perhaps not what you are expecting ...

Let me first state that this is an excellent book. However, it is really a book about taking things to the next level. If you are looking for solid how-to information about installing a rain garden in your back yard, you might be disappointed.

Landscape architects, designers and accomplished amateurs with advanced skill sets looking to handle water both innovatively and creatively will delight in this book. I did ... but then I already have three rain gardens in my own landscape and teach how-to classes on installing them. If the concept of rain gardens intrigues you and you are looking for the basics on a DIY level, the free, downloadable rain garden manual from the University of Wisconsin is still the best source of that information, as of January 2008.

This book has a decidedly European flavor to it. And why shouldn't it? It is written by a couple of Brits. Although I am hard-pressed to see how some of the models given in the book will pass muster with the Americans with Disabilities Act, codes and other regulatory bodies, they should indeed stimulate the mind. The examples (of which there are many) also include public and even larger municipal installations. I find this a good thing for Americans to be exposed to. The Europeans are far ahead of us in green thinking. Included are some examples of essentially, municipal civil engineering projects both implemented and functioning with panache.

This is a book that I value having in my personal library. Someone looking for basic information may not.

Good on several levels

This book is not meant for those who are well versed in rain gardens looking to learn more about them, however it does provide many good references and precedents to expand some basic knowledge and styles in design.

Studied stormwater management in Berlin for several months visiting and using a few sites that were listed in the book in my study.

Highly recommended if you are interested in stormwater management on any level in my opinion though.

CF FANS WON'T REGRET READING THIS GREAT ACTION PACKED LOVE STORY!!

WOW!! I want to say to all the Christine Feehan fans who have been disappointed with some of her past stories that she listen to her fans and she is back to being the excellent storyteller we all knew she was. Leopard's Prey is about the story. Sometimes I felt like I was reading the Godfather, but with a new uptake on it with Leopards!!

Leopard's Fury is not sex sex sex this is action packed fierce Leopards and them protecting there mates. I fell in love with the heroine Evangeline Trege which we met a few books back in the series and her Fierce Leopard Mate Alonzo Massi "aka" Fyodor Amurov. I am almost speechless at how great this couple is. OMG Evangeline has a fierce alpha female Leopard Bebe.

Lots of Kick Ass action and ask question later to all of Alonzo's enemies. We get to spend a lot of time with all the previous lead characters from the other Leopard People series. It almost felt like a reunion of all the characters. Emma's baby is born. There is a bit of repetitive sentences, but not many. It won't bother you. When we do get to the sex about 63% into the story its pure sensual sexy hot sex!! Leopards Fury is about the story, the action and the falling in love of a couple and less about the sex!!

As a very long time Fan of Christine Feehan I can't express how much I loved this story and I am so excited that CF is back to writing in her former style but has bought her stories into the world of today!!

I Highly Recommend Leopard's Fury!! You won't regret reading it.

Leopards

I love her books I can't wait from them to come out and then I get upset because I read them too fast. This one was a little different never had a mafia boss as bossy as this one basically. Evangeline has her own bakery when she meets the bad boy alpha leopard. He knows he should stay away because he is bad. His life doesn't need to touch her life but he can't help himself he has to have her to calm his beast. Love this book was a little different like I said before I still liked it. Had some of the characters from other books which I always enjoy hearing that side of the books again. Now just waiting for another book.

Christina Feehan is my #1 author. I await in anticipation for her books whether it be the Leopard Series, Drake Sisters, Ghostwalkers, or my favorite series The Carpathians. Christina has a way of transporting you to the story. You feel every emotion her characters feel... If you ever feel the need to get away and recharge read a Christina Feehan book... I loved Leopard's Fury. Alonzo was Evangeline's Iceman. He was her guardian, lover, the keeper of her BeBe... Evangeline was the calm to Alonzo and his leopard... a story of both protecting and loving one another... I sit on pins and needles waiting for the next in the Leopard series...

Excellent disclosure from the victim

It was great to hear the story of Travis Walton's experience from the guy it happened to. The low star review status was not a result of the reading but from the fact that I paid about $37 for a pocket book with a cover price of $1.95 on it. That's internet robbery if you ask me. Anyway, Travis paints a pretty good picture of the circumstances surrounding the abduction. Even the tree clearing job description leading up to the fateful night was interesting. As usual, the fickle public skepticism described over such an event is enough to make you sick once again. Me? The facts surrounding the case are impeccable and leave little doubt as to its authenticity. It happened the way they said it did because, damn it, they're NOT lying. The debunkers can take a hike!! Their efforts are, as usual, feeble at best. People just can't get over their long ingrained convictions about what they've been taught about life on earth. Once again, it shows how people are seriously hung up on their own long-ingrained perceptions.
I'm glad I finally read the book long after having seen "Fire In The Sky". My surprise was with the comparison to the movie and this was the fault of the movie maker. It seemed that the movie depicted fairly accurately, with the usual forgiveable story telling conventions, the overall mystery of the events and public suspicion surrounding the abduction. However, the movie scenes aboard the spacecraft are an extreme departure from what Travis claims to have experienced. It disappointed me that the movie took such liberty with the reported events and depicted such horrid procedures which Travis doesn't even come close to admitting. Quite frankly, when a movie departs that far from the reported truth I lose a lot of respect for the director/producer. It must have really pissed Travis off to see how they depicted his abduction experience just to make, what they no doubt, thought would make a better movie-going experience. If they would have told Travis's story the way he related it, it would have been every bit as compelling and had more credibility than what I finally determined the movie depiction deserved.
I must admit I was a little intrigued by the final chapter in Travis's book where he claims he MIGHT have experienced more than the two or so hours he recalls out of the five days he apparently spent aboard the craft. It sounded like he was about to reveal some deep secret but suggests that due to the warning that was revealed to him during deep regression, he should proceed no further. I got the impression he was suggesting that some serious, significant revelations were entrusted to him by the beings, but due to their warning of death, he couldn't reveal them. It sounded a bit like there was going to be a "part-two" follow up book in the works. Nevertheless, the report of his experiences are mind-boggling indeed and lend much insight into the ever-baffling UFO/abduction phenominon. I say, just remember this; if just ONE UFO experience can be proven absolutely true, then they might ALL be true!!! If you want to read of another's frustrating pursuit of the UFO truth then read Larry Warren's "Left at East Gate". Once again you'll likely admit there's no way so many could be affected by an event without it being absolutely, profoundly, undoubtedly TRUE!!

Good For Readers Who Know Nothing about the Walton Experience

If you have heard of but know nothing about Walton's experience, then you may enjoy this book. Walton presents the basic facts behind his story.

However, there is not much to present because Walton was knocked unconscious by a beam of light and simply woke up five days later. Anyone who wants detail of his abduction will be disappointed. There is none because Walton can not remember much of what happened.

Nothing against Mr. Walton, but if you have heard the basic details of this story then the book probably won't tell you much and is sure not worth the price that is being charged because the book is out of print.

I have heard Mr. Walton interviewed and I have read this book, and I think pretty clearly something terrifying happened to him. I admire the fact he does not make up a bunch of stuff to fill out the book. At $6 it would be easy to recommend, but at the prices copies are going for......No way.

He takes you right from the start up until now.

Travis Walton is a very humble man who went through an extraordinary experience. He explains in great detail.

You won't be able to put this book down! The book is now going for a pretty price but I would highly recommend it! It is worth the price! The Walton experience is a MUST READ!!
