Mr. Worry

Mr. Worry worries about everything in his life, in his friend's lives, and in the world around him. But when Mr. Worry meets up with a friendly Wizard, the Wizard makes all of his worries go away. Mr. Worry finally has something to smile about! But it's not long before Mr. Worry is back to his old habits: worrying about not having anything to worry about! This is a very cute book, as are all of the Mr. Men books by Roger Hargreaves.

Stop worrying! Mr. Worry will do it for you!

See those wrinkles on Mr. Worry's forehead? Those are all caused by him worrying over everything! If it rains, he worries about his roof leaking but if it doesn't rain he worries that his plants will die. When he goes shopping, Mr. Worry worries that the shops will close before he gets there and if they aren't closed he worries about spending too much money! Get the picture?! The worries go on and on until one day, he meets a kind wizard who tells him to go home and write a list of all his worries. When that is done, the wizard promises to make sure that none of the things of the list will happen so Mr. Worry will never have to worry again.

What a long list Mr. Worry writes but does it help? Yes! Mr. Worry actually smiles for the first time in a long time! BUT we all know worriers, don't we and guess what? Eventually Mr. Worry starts worrying because he has nothing to worry about! AAGH!

If you have a child that likes to worry this would be a great story for them. It's great for all other kids too to ensure that they don't end up like Mr. Worry!

I like the character designs, the multitude of characters in this world, and the voice that the author uses.

I like the character designs, the multitude of characters in this world, and the voice that the author uses. I've even grown used to the lack of resolution in these books. However, this one ends on such a sorrow note that my first thought was that I'd never want to read this to my kid again.

I can see that you could possibly have a lesson about trying not to worry too much, so there are some redeeming elements, but this story just wasn't for me.

Implausible, but so much fun!

The entire baby on a doorstep thing has been done...a lot! TV, movies, books-it's a staple, and one that author, Catherine Bybee puts to good use in her second book in the "Not Quite" series-Not Quite Mine. (the first was Not Quite Dating-another fun book!)

Beautiful, rich Katelyn Morrison has a lot going for her-she's beautiful, she's rich, she loyal, and she has love to spare, so when a tiny baby shows up on her doorstep, you know this story is going to be full of lies, deceptions and secrets.

Bybee adds another layer to the story, that I won't give away, but I enjoyed it very much.

Ok, onto our male lead-Dean Prescott. Big, Strapping, rich and yummy (as he is called by a secondary character) is in love with Katie, and has been for years.

Katie, naturally, is hesitant to share her secret with Dean. She fell in love with the tiny baby in mere seconds, as mothers often do, and is moving the earth to find out where baby Savannah came from, who her mother is and will she be able to legally keep her.

Bybee glosses over a lot of the legalities and focuses on Katie's growing love for the little girl left to her, and then her relationship with Dean. And that's ok, this is a romance! If too much detail and attention had been given over to the legal aspects of abandonment this would have easily switched from a romance novel to a drama, so in this case it works.

Lots of focus here on what makes a family, are we destined to repeat our parents mistakes, and learning to love again.

The cliche's are there, but I didn't care...I just had fun rooting for Katie, Dean and Savannah.

Great, light read for Spring.

touching and delightful contemporary romance

Author Catherine Bybee continues her delightfully written "Not Quite" series with Book Two, "Not Quite Mine". Continuing with characters from Book One, "Not Quite Dating", the story begins with the wedding of Jack and Jessie, the leads from the first book. At the wedding, Jack's sister, Katelyn, is once again faced with her true love, Dean, her brother's best friend and best man at the wedding. Friends since childhood, and later young lovers, Katie and Dean had kept their romance quiet. When Katie became pregnant, and then miscarried, they had gone their separate ways with no one the wiser. Each moved on to other involvements, but those relationships were not meant to last. Seeing each other again is a powerful emotional jolt, and old feelings are simmering just below the surface. Katie has long been publicly perceived as rich and flighty, but Dean knows the real Katie. When Jack asks Dean to keep an eye on Katie because she seems troubled, Dean jumps at the chance to be near her. Coming home the night of the wedding, Katie is suprised with a baby girl left at her apartment door. A letter explains that the real mother knows the truth of Katie's lost child and that she wants Katie to raise the baby girl, Savannah, as her own. Katie is both stunned and thrilled at the chance to be a mother. Early the next morning, Dean pays her a visit and discovers the child, whom Katie says she is keeping for a friend. Dean doesn't believe her story, and he is determined to get the truth. However, the real truth will be a bigger revelation than anyone expects, and all of their lives will be affected. Will Katie and Dean let go of past hurts and build a new life together? Will having the chance to be a mother help Katie reconnect with the mother who left her behind? If you love wonderfully written contemporary romance, then you will greatly enjoy the "Not Quite" series from author Catherine Bybee. Recommended.

I was shaking my head no, too much. Character motivations did not interest me.

I felt like I was reading about high school girls keeping secrets for silly reasons and then having all kinds of drama and stress because someone might discover the secret.

Katie was "secretly" dating Dean, became pregnant, had a miscarriage, and learned she would not be able to carry a pregnancy in the future. She "assumes" that Dean will want his own biological children, so she breaks up with him and does not tell him why - another "secret."

Later, a mother abandons her baby girl, giving the baby to Katie with a legal document. Katie does not know who the mother is (a secret). Katie wants to keep the baby, but insists on keeping this secret from her brother and her dad. Her reason is "If Jack finds out about the baby, my dad will get involved. My dad thinks I'm irresponsible. I don't want to confirm that to him. I don't want to disappoint him." Well, she's being responsible. That didn't make sense. She also fears her father would do stupid things and get the press involved. That didn't fit.

Katie wants to keep the baby "secret" from Dean for a couple reasons. 1. Dean might think Katie is bad by keeping the baby away from the birth mother. 2. If Dean were in her life, and the mother showed up to take the baby away, Dean might abandon Katie. Uhhhh.... what?

There are more secrets. I just did not enjoy them. Secrets can make a good story, but I want them reasonable, rational, believable.

On the positive side: The subject matter might appeal to some - an abandoned baby given to an infertile woman who loves the baby and is a wonderful mother. And there's a happy romantic ending.

Great read, highly recommend

This is a great book, a classic, and a must read for any graphic designer. Regardless of where you are as a designer, this information is either new to you or you've learned some variation of it somewhere. At my work place we don't do much page layout, but I wish we did. Although after reading it, I realize this type of grid system works for one page designs as well as multi-page. At first the instructions and the whole idea sounds a bit rigid but as you continue reading you begin to understand the infinite possibilities it gives you. Nowadays there's definitely a huge misconception about "Breaking the Grid". New designers and even some seasoned designers misinterpret that statement as "No grid at all". I'm not against breaking the grid, but there has to be an existing grid before you can break the grid, otherwise what are you breaking? So if you want to break the grid, you must still learn the grid. Margins don't qualify as a grid system. Another misconception is that you have to break the grid to create dynamic. That is also false. There is a such thing as dynamic use of the grid, and this classic book proves it. I love the grid and after reading this book, I recognize it more as I look at great design work. The layout system is such a fundamental part of being a graphic designer. Make sure you're making every effort to improve all the necessary skills. If you're looking for an improvement in your layout skills, read this book. It will stand the test of time for ages to come.

This book is freakin awesome. It was recommended to me by a talented graphic designer who said I wouldn't regret picking this up, and I certainly do not. After reading this book, my portfolio looks amazing and I feel much more confident in presenting my work. This book was the answer to all my misguided wanderings.

This is a must for all designers. It is a deep dive into understanding the grid system and typography and how to use them effectively to solve mass information layout. If you're looking for trendy design examples, look elsewhere, if you're looking to understand the principles of good design, it is a perfect.

One of the Few Books that's Worth Reading

I have many books that I have bought, read a third of the way through, and put aside as more important things come up. This book is one where I put work aside to make time to read. A strange situation for me.

This books covers a lot of area that I would not have otherwise thought about. It may not go into great depth about things, but that's not it's point, I think. It just wants to tell you enough about the hundreds of things you should think about and if you need any more information, you're free to look into other sources. But for what you should know, this book covers it, and it does it very well.

Thank you, authors, for not wasting my time and money. I just wish others would follow your example.

Extremely Helpful and Easy to Understand!

I chose the 5 star rating because the book was well written, realistic and easy to follow and understand.

This book covers every step from making the decision to become an entrepreneur to understanding sales & marketing and profitability. It addresses areas that are imperative to the success of someone new to being an entrepreneur, and it also serves as a reminder for existing entrepreneurs who want to be better entrepreneurs.

I appreciated the step-by-step format used, as well as the clear and concise manner in which it was written. Reading this book gave me the courage and helped me to decide to become an entrepreneur without apprehension or fear.

I strongly recommend Start Your Own Business for anyone interested in starting a small business, as well as for someone who wants to improve their existing business.

Dr J.J. Sandra Kooij is a psychiatrist and researcher in the field of adult ADHD. She is head of the Adult ADHD Program at PsyQ in The Hague, and head of the PsyQ Expertise Centre Adult ADHD. Sandra Kooij started as a psychiatrist in 1995 with the development of diagnostic assessment, treatment and research in the field of adult ADHD in the Netherlands. In 2006 she received her PhD on a thesis entitled ‘ADHD in adults. Clinical studies on Assessment and Treatment’. Anodea Judith, PhD is the founder and director of Sacred Centers, and a groundbreaking thinker, writer, and spiritual teacher. Necessary addition to any yoga/chakra library

Psychologist and yogin Anodea Judith is an amazing resource when it comes to the chakra system. Her first book, Wheels of Life: A User’s Guide to the Chakra System, has become a yoga classic. Now she has released a book specific to hatha yoga practice using the chakras. This is a great resource for individuals who may wish to focus their practice on a specific chakra, as well as a manual for teachers who wish to lead a chakra yoga practice. Chakra Yoga can be used by novices who would like to learn about the chakras, experienced practitioners looking for ideas or perspective, and everyone in between. To put everyone on the same page, Judith gives a concise and thorough explanation of the chakras.

Judith gives a short introduction, where she introduces the reader to her personal and professional experience with chakras. She then places the chakras into the context of yoga (some may have encountered chakras at the new age store and not know their yogic origins). Yoga means “to yoke,” or hitch two things together and Judith says, “the chakra system is the architecture of that yoke, providing a comprehensive map to the way the mortal and the Divine yoke together.” The goal of the chakra, yoga, and LifeForce Yoga is wholeness and integration. The chakra system “provides both a ladder for liberation and a map for manifestation.” Understanding our chakras and integrating this knowledge into our practices, allows us to have a deeper experience of focus and unfolding.

Each chapter is devoted to a specific chakra and begins with a chart of the basic principles of that chakra. These principles include things like associated element, body parts, practices, actions, deficiencies, balances, etc. Judith identifies a keyword for each chakra, which is elaborated upon in the discussion of basic concepts that follows. As an example, the keyword for Manipura, third chakra, is activate, through the cultivation of fire (agni) in the body. This concept of activation through fire is put into context with a discussion of the underlying yogic philosophy with sources from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita. The author then grounds this discussion into an experience, pelvic pulsing for the second chakra, uddiyana bandha (energy lock) for the third chakra, etc. The energy practice is followed by a meditative experience, a subtle energy exploration of the chakra.

The chapter continues with a yoga posture flow. Judith states in the introduction that there is no substitute for a skilled teacher and since this is not a comprehensive yoga pose manual, she has made some wonderful adjustments. Postures have a basic set of step by step instructions and readers are asked to follow them in order without omission. Guidelines are given for further instruction, as well as benefits and cautions. At the end of the chapter, a posture flow is given with the names of the poses and a small photograph. The selection of which postures to include is not easy as postures influence more than one chakra at a time, or variations of the same pose, or a shift in focus, may impact a different chakra. For this reason, Judith states, “some of the basic poses will appear in more than one chakra.” Of special note: the author provides a four pose partner yoga sequence in the heart chakra chapter.

Judith provides a specific relaxation and focus for each chakra. For example, the focus of relaxation for the fifth chakra (visshudha at the throat) is on “listening to the subtle variations coursing throughout the whole body.” The relaxation focus for the first chakra (muladhara at the base of the spine) is on feeling the solidity of the body and receiving nourishment from the earth.

Judith is adept at writing about complex concepts from yoga philosophy so that they are easy to understand and yet lose none of their richness. Chakra Yoga contains ample opportunities to experience energy, movement, and stillness. It belongs on the shelf of every yoga/chakra enthusiast.

You Can't Argue with Facts

It's legible, convenient, durable, water proof, etc.
It's a handy little cheat sheet.
I keep in a binder with the documents for a TI NSpire Calculator.

I was kinda hoping that it would cover microwave transmission parameters. Some of that is on the Circuit Theory/Analysis card.
Still, there was not much on the cards concerning practical impedance matching circuits. You just can't cram everything on a couple or three cards.

All the basics are there.
You should be able to derive the rest.

Can't complain

Stashed this away for reference on projects if anything is forgotten or disputed. No longer need internet if its not available. The quality is good, but the amount of information is overwhelming. If you are going to actually be studying for a class, I recommend making your own study card in addition to buying this as there are many benefits to doing so.

About the Author

David Stump, ASC has worked on numerous motion pictures and television productions as Director of Photography, as Visual Effects Director of Photography, and as a Visual Effects Supervisor, garnering Emmy nominations and an Academy Award for Scientific and Technical Achievement. A member of the Producer's Guild of America (PGA), the Visual Effects Society (VES), the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE), the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), Stump has worked in Digital Visual Effects for over 25 years, since the advent of Computer Generated Images for film. In 2001 he was accepted for full membership into the American Society of Cinematographers, where he is currently chairman of the Camera and Metadata Subcommittees of the ASC Technical Committee.

Comprehensive, easy to read; a valuable reference for everyone in digital image production.

Much like Alexis Van Hurkman's book, Color Correction Handbook: Professional Techniques for Video and Cinema (2nd Edition) (Digital Video & Audio Editing Courses) has become the defacto standard in reference for digital color grading, I predict this book will become the defacto standard for Cinematographers seeking in-depth information on the fundamentals behind digital cinema image capture. David Stump takes great pains to delve into all aspects of how digital sensors work, the math behind image capture, the complexities of various imaging color spaces, current digital camera systems and a plethora of other issues germane to the subject, but conveys it in a easy-going, informative manner. I especially appreciate how he reaches back into the History of Cinema Production to tie the current technology to the past; showing that while there are revolutionary aspects to digital production, it in the end is a continuation of the process of moving image production evolution, and is yet another tool in the arsenal for moving image production, rather an an island onto itself. While targeted specifically at cinematographers, this book should not be overlooked by any member of the image production chain. The comprehensive information contained within is valuable to anyone who wishes to understand digital image production from start to finish and should be on the shelf of any DIT, Editor, Colorist or person with a need to understand the underlying mechanisms that are used to create a digital moving image. Highly recommended.

Lots Of Info, But A Little Over-The-Top

I'm very impressed by what the book covers. It extensively covers the technologies that digital cameras use. Everything from the sensor to the lens, and then discusses things like color spaces, sampling rates, aspect ratios etc. The the last half of the book is devoted to camera setup, workflows, and displays (monitors) and recorders. There's also mini sections on specific info about many of the pro/prosumer cameras (as of ~2013).

There's certainly some good (even great) info in this book. I especially enjoyed the section on lenses and camera setup/operation. What I really didn't like was the first half of the book, for me it was painful to slog through that info because of how it was presented, and that was information that I was actually very interested in. For me though, and let me preface this by saying that I have an engineering degree and have had lots of college level math and physics, I would have much preferred much fewer equations and graphs and charts and theorems, and history., and much more qualitative discussion about achieving various results, anecdotes about in-the-field situations etc. But judging by the other reviews, I may be in the minority with that opinion, which is fine.
