About the Author
Jonathan Lewis has practiced psychiatry in Chicago for 35 years. He worked with George Becker in their clinic for neglected and abused children and adolescents. Subsequently, he spent 25 years in private practice focusing on the treatment of traumatized refugees and asylum seekers from countries that had experienced civil strife . This is a wonderfully eclectic book of essays and excerpts written by a remarkable intellectual of the mid to late twentieth century. George Becker was an anthropologist, psychologist, psychotherapist, sociologist and political theorist. His learning was wide and his insights are deep. The book takes you back to major intellectual disputes of his time that still resonate and have relevance today. The book's central theme of "perpetual adolescence" rings truer in the present political climate in the United States than ever before. Dr. Jonathan Lewis has done an excellent job in compiling this book.

nothing special, except the dull photos

This book is derivative and enraptured with cliche. The photos look like cheap snapshots gussied up for placement in a rather nice design. But the elegance of the overall production is the exact antithesis of the the REAL wabi sabi, so expertly revealed in that other book. They could have named this anything, and you wonder if the title was chosen to do anything but ride on the other author's achievement. I'd ignore this one.

The other book is highly informative, imaginative, and profoundly artful in the manner of wabi-sabi. WABI SABI: A NEW LOOK AT JAPANESE DESIGN, however, would be more accurately titled "WABI SABI LITE." It is a regurgitation of all the tired cliches about Japanese design and culture I have come to loathe rereading. Sorry. I'd let this one pass.

About the Author
Dr. David Eckstein Goldman graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, in 1973, having received his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in History, a focus in Religious Studies, and a double minor in Psychology and Sociology. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr.Goldman attended Washington University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1976. From 1976 until beginning medical school in 1987, he served as secretary-treasurer and corporate legal counsel for Central Industries, Inc. In 1987, Dr. Goldman entered medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1991 with his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. He completed a traditional transitional rotating internship at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, in 1992, after which time he began his residency training in Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Goldman completed his residency training in 1996, and completed his Fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1997, also at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After completing his Residency and Fellowship training, Dr. Goldman returned to Springfield, Illinois, establishing his practice in psychiatry. He serves as the Medical Director for both The Goldman Group, LLC and for Mark Twain Behavioral Health (Hannibal, Missouri). He is on the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, and is Professor of Psychiatry (Neurobehavioral Sciences) and Medical Jurisprudence/Medical Ethics at ATSU/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Goldman is a Medical-Legal Consultant, and provides educational and entertaining lectures and presentations through Goldman Educational Services. Dr. Goldman was the 2001 and 2015 recipient of the Max Gutensohn Professor of the Year Award at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and in 2001 was also awarded the Order of Merlin Shield by the International Brotherhood of Magicians. In 2007, he was one of 18 psychiatrists selected from among the nation’s physicians to receive the NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award presented at the international meeting of the American Psychiatric Association.

Paperback Time Machine

As a Mozzer fan too young to have caught all his early quirky brilliance the first time around, I was incredibly excited to pick up Morrissey in Conversation. Paul Woods has curated a solid collection of interviews that gives an idea of the range of responses the British and American music press had to Morrissey throughout his career in the Smiths and as a solo artist. For me, this added a nice level of history to Morrissey's music that I'd never had before. But, more importantly than all that, Morrissey is hilarious. If you want to laugh out loud at clever literary witticisms and silly bon mots, buy this book.

Great collection

I've read over half of the interviews in the book, but to have them all in one place is fantastic. It's a bit dangerous to open the book because you'll inevitably find that 2 hours have passed and you've done nothing but let yourself be caressed by Morrissey's wit. Definitely recommended.

OUTDATED AND MISLEADING

THIS IS NOT A TRUE BOOK. This is a PHOTOCOPY of a TYPEWRITTEN United States Army Marksmanship manual of the late 1960's or early 1970's. The supposed copyright of 2002 is misleading at best, and at worst is an outright lie. The date the manual was published by the Army has been removed from the Foreword.

All the references in the text seem to be from the 1960's, even one from the 1950's. Also, the text states there are two "volumes" to the "manual", and only the first is present - the second volume is missing.

While a lot of the material is quite useful, there are better sources for pistol marksmanship material, and far more recent.

The publisher, Fredonia Books (Netherlands), has played this trick before for marksmanship books - make a photocopy of a manuscript that is decades old, removed the initial publishing date, and posted a phony "publishing" date, which is actually their own COPYRIGHT date. I wonder how the U.S. Army feels about that.

More than a tech-manual

I am the owner/chief-firearms instructor of a firearms-training company, and as such, am constantly searching for information that will my students and I improve in our tactics. After reading numerous books that referenced or took excerpts from this book, I decided to 'go to the source'. Be warned: this is NOT an easy read! This book reads like it was wrote - a 'tech-manual'. It's a little better than the tech-manuals written in the '50s, but it is still a tech-manual nonetheless. The minutae that the book references can be irksome at first, but once you accept that the author(s) believe in the relevancy of the details, the lights come on. Whether you want to concentrate solely on marksmanship or improve your combat-shooting techniques, this book is invaluable. Buy it, study it, apply it, and your shooting skills will improve.

I have bullseye shot for years. But now in my later years, I needed help. I did not know there was so much more to this than just aiming. I'm better than in my younger eyes. And this book puts the descipline together so well and helped me get over some major hurdles.
